The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Zimbabwe is the latest CILT branch to launch a Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLAT) group. New members gathered at the Harare Club on 11 February 2016 for their  inaugural event “Breaking Barriers in the Logistics and Transport Sector”

Chairperson Lynette Chakwenya welcomed members and introduced them to CILT and the concept behind the Women in Logistics and Transport group

Guest Speaker George Nyawo spoke about women breaking barriers in the logistics and transport sector in Zimbabwe. He encouraged women to break the traditional methods in which work is organized in logistics and transport.

Women should break the glass ceiling in order for them to face challenges in the male dominated industry

Vimbayi Rusakaniko spoke about how difficult it is to be recognized and respected in the sector. Women have to work extra hard to be noticed. Women have to be principled in the sector.

Aisha Ali Ibrahim, WiLAT Global Convenor is delighted to welcome the new group in Harare, Zimbabwe to the WiLAT global Family.
