Despite the collapse in demand across the world in many sectors, shipping and supply has held up well. This is, of course, supported by high inventories and by enforced closures in manufacturing. Now that some factories are resuming production, and consumer demand will be slowly increasing in countries coming out of lockdown, the immediate priorities are still to resolve the restrictions on global shipping.

These restrictions are many and different, and need understanding fully before tackling the root problems. Read this report from CILT Malaysia on the impacts on shipping and freight moving through Malaysian ports and the different issues that have arisen in the last three months.
