Our fourth international webinar on Global Shipping and the Supply Chain will take place on Wednesday 3rd June at 11:00 GMT (12:00 noon BST).

Guest Speaker Romesh David, Chief Executive Officer at South Asia Gateway Terminals (Pvt) Ltd. will examine the likely impacts on container shipping lines of the fall in trade volumes on the Asia/South Asia-Europe container routes, and the potential ensuing impacts on trans-shipment ports in the South East/South Asian regions.

Mr. HO Lap Kee, Sunny, Executive Director, The Hong Kong Shippers’ Council will consider the immediate impact to operators and potential changes in global supply chains, that might be brought by the Covid-19 epidemic.

Bob Armstrong, Supply Chain Consultant will be reviewing the implications on the movement of goods during the Covid-19 pandemic including the implications of global supply chains on North America and the world.

Romesh David is CEO of South Asia Gateway Terminals (www.sagt.com.lk). Prior to his appointment as CEO of SAGT, he worked for 38 years at Sri Lanka’s premier blue-chip conglomerate, John Keells Holdings PLC (www.keells.com), where he was President of the Transportation Group, responsible for strategic business units in the ports and shipping, logistics, airlines and aviation services sectors.

A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, he currently serves as International Vice President of CILT for South Asia and is a Global Advisor to WiLAT (Women in Logistics and Transport). He also serves as President of the Indo-Lanka Chamber of Commerce, is Co-chair of the National Agenda Committee on Transport and Logistics of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and a member of the IFC’s Women-in-Work, High-Level Advocacy Group in Sri Lanka.

Mr. HO Lap Kee, Sunny, MH, J.P., is the Executive Director of the Hong Kong Shippers’ Council. As he now shapes the thrust of the Shippers’ Council mandate as the voice of the Hong Kong shippers, he has considerable experience in aspects of trade and transport of goods.

Mr. HO is a member of the Logistics Industry Training Advisory Committee, the Private Columbaria Appeal Board, and two sub-committees of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board of the Hong Kong SAR Government. He is the current Chairman of Hong Kong Logistics Management Staff Association, Fellow and Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) in Hong Kong, Vice President of CILT International, a member of the Transport and Shipping Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Logistics Services Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Hong Kong Taiwan Business Co-operation Committee, Advisor of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade of International Trade Guangzhou Sub-Council, and Advisor of the Shenzhen Ports and Harbour Association.

Bob Armstrong is President of CILT North America, and has many years experience as a Supply Chain Consultant. The Canada-USA border is the largest undefended border in the world and 69% of Canada’s international trade is with the USA. Bob will examine what’s happening with goods movement between Canada and the USA, and the effect on trade with the rest of the world. CILT North America have been influencing governments on essential movements of goods for the healthcare, consumer and food industries, and Bob has been in regular demand as a webinar speaker on Covid-19 impacts on the supply chain.

Places on the webinar are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. However, the recording of the webinar will be published on the international website for all members to enjoy from Monday 8th June.
