CILT (UK) LEVEL 6 ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORT

The CILT (UK) Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Transport provides the strategic management skills and tactical insight necessary for professional and business development. It bridges the gap between the undergraduate level of the Level 5 Professional Diploma and the postgraduate standard of a Masters degree.

The qualification comprises five mandatory units:

Logistics and Transport – Strategic Contexts

In this unit learners will be encouraged to examine organisations from a global perspective, through case studies and models. The need for the gathering and use of externally sourced information will be investigated, as will the implications of working with global stakeholders. The unit also looks at resource utilisation, stakeholder and relationship mapping, cost benefit analysis, sustainable corporate development, and competition and risk.

Leadership and Strategic Management in Logistics and Transport

The first section in this unit examines organisational culture in a wider environment and the associated internal and external factors that influence the differing cultures in organisations.

The unit also addresses the theoretical and practical aspects of leadership in the work environment, collaboration in the global environment and ethical management.

Strategic Network Planning in Logistics and Transport

This unit is concerned with the important subject of strategic planning, taken from an organisational, intra-organisational and a global perspective. The areas covered are vision and strategy, forecasting in order to make effective business decisions, delivering customer service and innovation and change.

Delivering Strategic Performance in Logistics and Transport

This unit looks at organisational integration and how organisations must become more aware of strategic performance if the aim is to operate on a global level. Supply strategies are also examined, as well as logistics performance and e-technology.

Research Methods and Professional Projects in Logistics and Transport

This unit develops learners’ ability to apply research methods and statistical techniques to logistics and transport organisations and to enable them to use both qualitative and quantitative methods in problem analysis and solving. The professional project will develop skills in undertaking a structured and methodical research project involving production of a substantial body of work (8,000-10,000 words) that has been instigated, developed and produced using in-company research and/or industrial liaison and that offers opportunities for specialism.

The Level 6 Advanced Diploma is aimed at managers aspiring to move to a strategic role, for those already working within the logistics and transport professions.
