The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) in Egypt have formed an alliance with the Professional Development Foundation (PDF), one of the leading NGOs in Egypt concerned with the empowerment and capacity development of youth in Egypt, with a view for enhancing economic growth and competitiveness. Through this strategic partnership, CILT Egypt has become the main training provider in areas related to logistics and transport.

Phase 1 of this initiative involves the delivery of an introductory CPD course on logistics and transport for young graduates newly entering the labour market and wishing to increase their employment opportunities within the logistics and transport sector. Phase 2 will address the professional development needs of logistics professionals in the Suez Canal Zone (Ismailia, Port Said and Suez) by offering CILT Qualifications. During Phase 3 the geographical coverage will be extended to address the needs of other industrial centres including Cairo and Alexandria.

A pilot scheme has already been developed, with 21 students attending the 6 day introductory course in May 2016

Mahmoud Awad, International Coordinator for CILT Egypt said

this serves as a good entry point for CILT to be one of the forerunners addressing the capacity building needs of the Suez Canal Zone (an emerging logistics hub)
